Take Off, Flight, and Landing in Biplace Paragliding in Gran Canaria!
We are now taking off, with stunning views of the sea. In just 5 minutes, we will ensure everything is ready for your biplace paragliding flight. First, we will give you brief instructions to make sure the takeoff, flight, and landing are as smooth and comfortable as possible.
Flight Preparation:
The passenger puts on the biplace paragliding harness, which is worn like a backpack. We secure the 3 safety clips, and although the harness may feel a bit uncomfortable while standing, once seated and airborne, it becomes very comfortable. During the flight, the passenger is in the front, and the pilot is behind.
Before taking off, we always check that everything is ready on your end, and the pilot will decide the ideal moment for takeoff, taking into account the wind and its direction.
Takeoff:
Although the run to take off might seem a bit challenging due to the resistance from the paraglider, don’t worry—just keep running, and the wind will lift us into the air. If there’s any issue during takeoff, we simply stop and try again, no problem at all.
The advantage of flying in a paraglider is that everything happens slowly and controlled, allowing us to restart any part of the process without difficulty. The passenger just needs to focus on running, while the pilot coordinates all the details.
The Flight:
Once in the air, the pilot will tell you when to sit down. Just relax and enjoy the comfort and safety of the flight. The paraglider takes off at about 15 km/h. If we have a headwind of 15 km/h, we’ll only need 2 or 3 meters of running to lift off into the sky.
During the flight, you will feel a smooth, gliding sensation. It’s normal to feel a bit uncertain at first, but soon you’ll be enjoying the freedom of flight and the spectacular views of Gran Canaria. The time in the air becomes a pleasurable and adrenaline-filled experience, perfect for disconnecting and living a unique moment!
The Wind:
The wind plays a key role in the paragliding experience, as it is the force that lifts us up and allows us to enjoy panoramic views. In Gran Canaria, the direction and strength of the wind are ideal for this sport, especially in the north of the island, where takeoffs from places like Silva, Las Coloradas, and Los Giles offer perfect conditions.
Meteorology plays a crucial role in the safety and enjoyment of the flight: experienced pilots carefully study the forecast to ensure the conditions are optimal. A gentle, steady wind guarantees a smooth and controlled flight, while good general weather contributes to a relaxed and enjoyable experience. That’s why, when planning your flight, it’s essential that both the wind and other meteorological factors are at their best to guarantee a safe and memorable aerial adventure.
